Our swimmers found sponsors to pledge donations either per lap or in a lump sum. On December 21st and 22nd, they swam as many laps as possible during their hour or hour and a half practice time.
Together, our Sharks swam 6,770 laps and raised a total of $7,220.95, making a donation of $5,415.71 to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware.
With this donation, they will “Adopt a Room” at the Ronald McDonald House and subsidize the cost of operating this room in 2017. This will allow families with children undergoing lifesaving treatments at AI and Christiana Hospitals to stay comfortable and close by.
One swim parent shared a story: when her son was hospitalized, she stayed with her aunt so that she could be close to the hospital where he was receiving treatment. Before her swimmer began his Mitzvah Laps, she reminded him that he was swimming for all the families who don’t have an aunt’s house to stay in.
Thank you to all who sponsored, supported, and cheered on our Sharks!
