So, I probably should've introduced myself first. Because, since I was so new to yoga, Merav had to modify most of the high intensity class. And if that wasn't high intensity, I can't even imagine what would be.
If you like yoga that will make you sweat more than an hour in the sauna, Merav's Tuesday Vinyasa Yoga is the class for you.
I don't know what it is about Merav, but she is the perfect combination of tough and soothing; I felt relaxed as she taught, but I also felt determined to follow her fast pace and pointed directions.
A lot of those directions actually had to do with pointing -- and bending -- and flexing. Mostly, they were about engaging, and how the more we engage our body now, the stronger we will be when it tries to shut down on us. Merav referenced examples of joint pain and lower back pain, reminding us to engage our core and shoulders to carry the weight. A new thing I learned was to push my feet; the more your feet are engaged, the more you engage your entire upper body and the less stress you put on your knees. It was crazy how something so small made such a huge difference.
