Swim Lessons
Learn to swim at the J!
Swimming helps to develop cardiovascular endurance for aerobic exercises, the most important factor of physical fitness. Since all major muscle groups are used in swimming, muscles develop in good proportion. No other sport does this as well as swimming. It also helps develop superior coordination because it requires a combination of complex movements of all parts of the body, enhancing muscle function, balance, and range of motion. Swimming is the most injury-free of all sports.
PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS
Private swim lessons are available for all ages and are specifically recommended for those who have an extreme fear of the water, as well as swimmers who otherwise need special attention. Our instructors work with each swimmer to provide the one-on-one instruction needed for the swimmer to excel.

- 1 session: $50/Members, $65/Non-Members
- 4 sessions: $170/Members, $210/Non-Members
To cancel or reschedule a private swim lesson once it has been scheduled, email CancelMyLesson@siegeljcc.org. Otherwise, you may be charged as a no-show. You can review swim lesson policies here.
Youth Group Swim Classes
Group swim lessons are available for youth & adults at the J each season. Winter lessons start in January, Spring lessons start in late March, Summer lessons start in June, and Fall lessons start in October. AMERICAN RED CROSS LEARN-TO-SWIM
Learn-to-Swim teaches people of varying ages and abilities how to swim skillfully and safely. Each level includes training in basic water safety in addition to aquatic and safety skills taught in a logical progression. At least one instructor in each class has successfully completed American Red Cross training and is a certified Water Safety Instructor!
American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim will be offered each season and is designed for swimmers ages 6 months and above.
SPring session 2025
Weekly classes will be held on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays starting Saturday, March16, Sunday, March 22, Tuesday, April 1, and Wednesday, April 2. Please see below for the class schedules.
Please note that there is a non-refundable $10 registration fee included for all classes. We also do not offer makeups or refunds for individual classes missed. All classes are held in the Indoor Pool.

Fixed One-on-One Swim Lessons
This 4-week program combines the reduced pricing of pre-scheduled lessons (like our group lessons) and the benefit of working one-on-one with an instructor (like our traditional private lessons). Each class is limited to a single participant. Due to the reduced pricing of this offering, there are no refunds, makeups, or rescheduled lessons available for individual lessons missed.
Participants should be at least 6 months of age. Children that are not ready to be held by an instructor should be accompanied by an adult (age 15+) in the water. Otherwise, this is open to participants of any age (youth and adult).
Registration opens March 5th for members and 12th for non-members!

Adult Swim: Learning the Basics -
Introduces basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes, including the front crawl, breaststroke and elementary backstroke. Participants also learn skills and concepts needed to stay safe around water, in addition to those needed to help themselves or others in an aquatic emergency. Pre-requisite: Able to enter and stand in chest-deep water.
Adult Swim: Improving Skills and Swimming Strokes -
Seeks to improve participants' proficiency in basic aquatic skills and the six basic swimming strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke). Participants also learn skills and concepts needed to stay safe around water, in addition to those needed to help themselves or others in an aquatic emergency. Pre-requisite: Able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards).
Each 4-class session offers 45 minutes of swim instruction. Instructors provide group instruction, as well as individual guidance, in an encouraging and supportive environment.

Homeschool swim
This 8-week program gives homeschoolers and virtual learners in grades K - 5 an opportunity for physical education and swim instruction with friends old and new.
This class features swim instruction and supervised free time in the pool. A minimum of 3 participants is required for the program to run.
There is a 30% discount for families registering 3 or more children; email shannonmorken@siegeljcc.org to take advantage of the family discount.
