Tracey Landmann

Dining Boat by Tracey Landmann

Tracey Landmann

Water has always allured Delaware artist, Tracey Landmann. Over the past twenty years, she has traveled far and wide to gather inspiration and subjects for her oil paintings of water. Her voyages to the English Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey and her frequent trips to the Outer Hebrides of Scotland provided many beautiful landscapes that included boats and harbors. New Zealand landscapes, the exotic port of Alexandria, Egypt, the canals of Venice and Amsterdam and the Danish ports of Copenhagen and Skagen have inspired many of her paintings. In the US, the rugged scenery of Olympic National Park in Washington and breathtaking scenery of Alaska presented her with even more subjects.

Water in all these locations offers infinite possibilities for Tracey to interpret including how it facilitates international trade, how different styles of vessels were developed for different needs and different climates.

“I love the beautiful drama and power of water. I love its temperamental nature.  Water will take you, your crew, and the goods you carry anywhere you want to go, if you respect it completely and carefully. In my paintings, I try to bring you the moody mystique of this pure, reflective liquid on its best behavior with just a sprinkle of ‘don't mess with me’ reminding the viewer that of all the elements, water is in supreme control!”

Tracey defines herself as an artist, writer, speaker and teacher.  And she has achieved success in all these fields!

in the showcase: Folded Watercolor Paper Sculptures and Ceramics by Samara Weaver

Fan Sculpture by Samara Weaver Samara Weaver

Delaware artist Samara Weaver cuts pieces of the long folded strips of paper and winds and pulls them into flowing shapes. Sometimes she merely cuts a square of brilliant colors. Sometimes end pieces are cut off and spill from the middle of the piece

My signature folded watercolor paper sculptures are created in a unique language I made up and developed myself” says Samara. “While I am mixing colors and creating gradients, I am painting on much more paper than the size of the final piece. To create a piece that is 15 x 21 inches, I might have painted on 40 feet of paper. I create this huge landscape of paper and colors and fold and condense them down.”

Simultaneously with developing her fine art practice, Samara created a line of functional ceramics to sell at art fairs, where she found that she could sell all types of her artwork together. With her ceramics she focuses on the beauty of the materials, of different kinds and colors of clay. She enjoys the tactile experience of the texture and how the clay feels and molds.

Samara is a many-faceted successful artist. In addition to her sculptures, ceramics business, and prints, she has her own design company, Design Hues, that specializes in artisan florals and large floral installations.
