Aquatics

Youth Swimming Coordinator

Under supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Youth Swimming Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the planning, development, administration and delivery of the highest quality Aquatics programming for youth at the JCC. This individual will also be on the coaching staff for our Winter and Summer Swim Teams and will teach group and private swim lessons as necessary. Available positions, open to high school juniors and above, include (click on the position title for the complete job description):

  • Unit Counselor: The Unit Counselor is the primary person responsible for his/her assigned group of children with concern for their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Hours for this position vary.
    • Must be a high school graduate or on track to completing high school
  • Activity Counselor: As part of the Program Team, Activity Counselors direct and coordinate the development of an activity area, in conjunction with the Specialists, which reflects the goals and objectives of Camp JCC, and a commitment to the personal growth and overall self-image of our campers.
    • Must be a high school graduate or on track to completing high school
  • Floating Counselor: The Floating Counselor is essential to the ability of our camp to run safely and smoothly; Floating Counselors take on the responsibilities of other counselor positions either from the person they are temporarily relieving or in conjunction with the staff member they are assisting. The flexibility and adaptability of the Floating Counselor provides the staff the easiest and most effective ways to handle the curveballs and road bumps that accompany every summer. Hours for this position vary depending on the responsibilities of the day.
    • Must be a high school graduate or on track to completing high school
    • Must be a year round employee of the JCC with previous experience as a camp counselor and/or have other work experience with children
  • Office Assistant: The Office Assistant is the second person in the camp office responsible for answering the phones, greeting parents and campers when they enter the office, and keeping the office clean and organized.
    • Must be a high school graduate or on track to completing high school
  • Head Counselor: To assist the Unit Head in directing and coordinating the development of unit program which reflects the goals and objectives of the JCC, provide leadership to Unit and Floating Counselors, and ensures commitment the high quality of programming established at Camp JCC.
    • Must have a college degree or equivalent experience
  • Health and Wellness Consultant: Our caring and enthusiastic Consultant is the health manager for the camp, supervises health and cleanliness standards, works with camp directors and staff, assists and reports on the mental and social well-being of campers, and helps provide adequate physical health conditions for all. Hours for this position are 9 AM to 5:30 PM Monday-Friday during camp.
    • Must have Current CPR, First Aid, AED and Medication certifications
  • Office Manager: The Office Manager is the first face and voice someone is likely to encounter as they enter the Camp Office, and should greet parents and campers with enthusiasm, take detailed messages, and act as the communication center that allows camp to run effectively.
    • Must have a college degree or equivalent experience
  • Specialist: As leaders in the Program Team, Specialists plan the development of a specific umbrella activity area while supervising the Activity Counselors, establish curriculum-based programs that reflect the goals and objectives of Camp JCC, and commit to the personal growth and overall self-image of our campers.
    • Must have a college degree or equivalent experience
  • Unit Head: The Unit Head directs and coordinates the development of unit program, which reflects the goals and objectives of the JCC, and a commitment to Jewish values which aid children to affirm their Jewish identity, personal growth, and overall self-image.
    • Must have a college degree or equivalent experience

Youth & Family

KidsPlace Afterschool Program Counselor

Directly responsible for supervising, engaging with, and ensuring the safety of the children in KidsPlace Afterschool Program. Hours: 3 - 6 PM, Monday-Friday (additional hours available for School’s Out Days). School Age Site Assistant/Coordinator Qualifications or college credits in education/recreation strongly preferred, but not required. Babysitting

Babysitter

Caring & friendly adult with childcare experience sought for evenings and weekends to work with another professional in the JCC’s babysitting room. Experience directly caring for children between the ages of infant and 6 years old required. CPR/First Aid preferred.
