Red Cross Programs include:

LIFEGUARD TRAINING

This 32-hour course will give you the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. It will also prepare you to be a first responder in a breathing or cardiac emergency, an injury, or a sudden illness. Participants must be 15 years of age or older and have the following prerequisite skills:

  1. Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence: Swimmers must, in one uninterrupted sequence, swim 150 yards (6 lengths) in a row, then tread water for 2 minutes with just their legs, then swim 50 yards (2 laps). The swimming must be any combination of freestyle or breaststroke (goggles are permitted) and rhythmic breathing must be demonstrated.
  2. Timed Brick Sequence: Swimmers must, in one uninterrupted sequence, swim 20 yards to the deep end, retrieve a 10-pound object from the bottom of the pool, swim it back to the shallow end, and climb out of the pool without using the ladder. This sequence is timed and must be done in under 1:40 (goggles are not permitted).

All classes will be using a form of Blended Learning for 7 hours of online work and 24 hours of in-person class time. More detailed instructions about online coursework will be sent out to those register for the classes. 

Cost: $350/member, $375/non-member (Includes a non-refundable $35 registration fee)

Blended Learning Course

Participants must complete 7 hours of online blended learning before the first session, then attend all of each scheduled session.

Lifeguard Re-certification

This is an abbreviated Lifeguarding course that briefly reviews course information and allows practice of skills and knowledge before testing. Current certification in Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED is required to participate in the review course. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED which is valid for 2 years. Course includes 10 hours of classroom skills sessions.

Cost: $175/Member, $200/Non-Member (Includes a non-refundable $35 registration fee)

Pre-Prerequisite course

This one-hour clinic is designed for strong swimmers that are out of practice, need to get their feet wet before starting the class, or need some help with treading and/or surface dives. Our lifeguard instructors will help you prepare to pass the course prerequisites and practice in advance.

Babysitters Training

Teens (ages 11-15) will learn techniques in basic care, first aid, introductory CPR and how to be the best babysitter possible! All participants will receive a babysitter’s manual and a certificate in Babysitter's Training upon successful completion.

First Aid/CPR/AED

 This basic-level American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED course is designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. This course will teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person when minutes matter and decide whether advanced medical care is needed. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate via email from the Red Cross that is valid for 2 years.

Prior to the in-person skills session date listed approximately 2 hours of online coursework will need to be completed. Sign on instructions will be sent shortly after registration is complete.
