Youth Swim Team
The Sharks Swim Team is a fun-filled, competitive swim team open to boys and girls who have achieved at least a beginner level of swimming. The program is designed to bring out the best in each swimmer. Participants will be taught how to become proficient in all competitive swim strokes and will be given the tools to take their swimming to the next level, as well as learn the culture of the sport. Our Swim Team program promotes physical health, friendship building, positive self-esteem, dedication, commitment, and teamwork and is designed to develop each child physically, mentally, and emotionally in safe and caring environment.
The Sharks are open to boys and girls who have achieved at least a beginner level of swimming. Participants must be able to swim at least 25 yards on their stomach or back and must be 18 years of age or under. The Sharks participate in dual Swim Meets during the season and in two different leagues, one in the Winter season and one in the Summer.

Meet our coaches
SUMMER HEAD COACH ALEX

For those not familiar with me, my name is Alex Maillie. I have been with the JCC for five summers now, the first three as an assistant coach, last summer as a head coach. I am currently a first-year law student at Beasley School of Law at Temple University.
For those who I have met in past summers, I am excited to come back. This summer, I will still be splitting my responsibilities but will be available much less because of my studies. I will be present at evening practices and meets but will not be on deck in the mornings and will take a small step back in administrative responsibility. Despite having to cut back, I am still thrilled to be spending what time I do have at the J. This team means a great deal to me and I am grateful to have the opportunity to ensure it continues to grow.
SUMMER HEAD COACH KYLE

Hello everyone, it's Coach Kyle (Morken). I have been at the JCC since 2017 and swimming since I was a wee lad. I swam at Crestview, BRY, Mount Pleasant High School and Albright College, setting records at Crestview and Albright. I was an assistant coach for four years and the year-round head coach for another four years. I am working on my Master's in Education to be a High-School Biology Teacher from Wilmington University. I plan on starting teaching next Spring.
I am super excited to get back on the front lines of coaching. So, I am stepping up from a support position last year to work with Alex as Co-Head Coaches. I will be at every morning practice and all meets. I will be at some of the evening practices and doing a lot of the administrative tasks. I am so happy to be working with the kids again! I also think that our coaching staff this year is going to really knock your socks off with their dedication and expertise.

COACH SHANNON

Education: Graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics.
"I believe a strong foundation is the key to success in all things, including swimming. I especially love building up new swimmers and helping them learn everything from the ground up."
